On the 2nd of May, 2023, the Home Office published Martyn’s Law Terrorism Bill, otherwise known as the Protect Duty legislation.
The bill is designed to enhance national security and keep citizens safe by making businesses and other spaces that allow public access to be better prepared to face terrorism and other threats to national security.
As part of the new legislation, any location or building that’s open to the public is required to conduct stringent security assessments and take measures to ensure the safety and security of the UK public against the threat of terrorism.
